New Alliance
Aims to Save Healthcare Industry Millions in Drug and
Device Clinical Studies
Atlanta, GA,
September 5, 2002 -- MDdatacor, inc., a medical informatics company that
identifies patient populations for clinical trials and
approved therapies, today announced it has signed an
agreement with the Linked Urology Research Network (LURN),
a network of seven research-oriented private urology
practices consisting of 104 urologists. Terms of the
agreement call for LURN network practices to adopt MDdatacor's
MDinsight™ informatics solution to assist them
with clinical trial patient recruitment and for LURN
to assist MDdatacor in its industry sales initiatives
to pharmaceutical and medical device companies.
"We are very pleased to reach
an agreement with such a preeminent group of urology
practices," commented Blake Whitney, MDdatacor
chairman, president and chief executive officer. "This
agreement confirms the value of our informatics solution
to research-oriented specialty physician groups and
will greatly expand our industry marketing efforts."
Physician practices provide MDdatacor
with electronic copies of patient chart information,
such as transcribed progress notes, lab results and
demographic information. MDdatacor uses a patent-pending
technology to convert this information into a searchable
clinical database. Within each individual practice,
physicians can use this online database to help identify
patients who may need additional medical follow-up.
It also allows physicians to quickly determine which
subjects may qualify for a clinical trial or a new medically-indicated
drug or device therapy. MDdatacor's industry solutions
help pharmaceutical firms and medical device manufacturers
accelerate clinical trial screening and enrollment processes,
reducing the time and cost of new product and drug development.
"MDdatacor has a unique solution
that we believe will help us accelerate our practices'
clinical trial enrollment. We are pleased with the firm's
attention to the HIPAA privacy and security regulations
and the fact they share our concern for the confidentiality
of patient medical information," said Margaret
Fay, Ph.D. chief executive officer of LURN. "Our
superior trial enrollment experience gives us unique
access to and credibility with drug and device companies
who are not currently aware of MDdatacor. We look forward
to leveraging these relationships to the benefit of
Sponsors, LURN, our patients and MDdatacor."
