Database doubles in size over last
six months
Chicago, IL,
March 31, 2003 - MDdatacor, inc., announced today
at the 52nd Annual Scientific Sessions of the American
College of Cardiology (ACC), that it has accumulated
longitudinal medical data on more than one million individual
cardiology patients. MDdatacor now receives routine
medical information uploads from more than 50 cardiology
practices representing approximately 900 cardiologists
nationwide. Patients in these practices benefit because
their cardiologists, using MDdatacor's technology, can
more accurately identify appropriate chronically ill
patients for new clinical trials, as well as life-saving
and life-extending therapies.
"I am pleased with the acceleration
in the growth rate of our database, becoming not just
the largest but also the fastest growing," commented
Blake Whitney, MDdatacor chairman, president and chief
executive officer. "This is a clear result of our
success in attracting large, prestigious groups into
our Practice Network. Obviously, leading cardiologists
see our value in helping them deliver quality care."
Physician practices provide MDdatacor
with electronic copies of patient chart information,
such as transcribed progress notes, lab results and
demographic information. MDdatacor uses a patent-pending
technology to convert this information into a single
clinical database from which its Practice Network can
identify patients who qualify for clinical trials or
may be medically indicated for a new drug or device.
Pharmaceutical and medical device companies contract
with MDdatacor to help Network Practices find patients
who are candidates for their clinical trials and new
products, thus accelerating their product development
timeline and increasing utilization of their products
and services.
"The most frequently stated cause
of trial delays is patient recruitment," commented
John J. Needham, Senior Director, Johnson & Johnson
Pharmaceutical Research and Development, LLC. and chairperson
of the upcoming Drug Information Association symposium
"Advances in Patient Enrollment, Adherence and
Retention in Clinical Trials."
"Every day a drug is delayed
getting to market costs the manufacturer well over $1
million in lost potential revenue. Innovative companies
like MDdatacor can provide study sponsors with a very
compelling option for accelerating trial enrollment
by quickly and accurately identifying the potential
participants for a clinical trial," said Needham.
